As an artist I have always been interested in the relationship between content and context. I have always liked to link what at first glance what it seems un-linkable or just un-questionable to let the viewer decide and make his/hers own conclusions, but the act of confronting paradoxes and sometimes state the obvious have guided my public art proposals and built projects with more than one story behind them.
The counterpart to placement and its figurative decisions is where irony and humor appears and becomes as important as the site itself. It is by definition the round up connection that overcomes the shape and gives the name or title that the piece finally endures. This usually becomes the moment of recognition and coherence, a moment of reflection that provokes a variety of reactions that have always make empathy so interesting.
On the making of public art I am constantly on the search of ways to engage with the everyday user through a use of different aspects of what is inherent to the placement of the piece, whether it be materiality, scale or functionality. Color, texture, sound, lighting or movement becomes as important as the place itself, and the response grows naturally from the various readings of the site.
